Who can Place Holds

Registered borrowers can place a Hold on most items in our catalogue. Items that are exempt from this service are DVDs, Reference and Reserves.

Ideally you should first log into My Account, then proceed with your search. If not, when you go to place a Hold, you will be prompted to enter your User ID and PIN.

  • This is a specific User ID and PIN to our Library's lending system.

How to Place a Hold

There are a few different locations where you can place a Hold.

Search Results

  • The first screen you view once you have completed a search, unless there is only one search result.
     
More Options drop-down > Place Hold(s)   
 
  Blue Place Hold button located on right-side of title

Detailed Display

Top of page:

More Options drop down > Place Hold, or blue Place Hold button 

Bottom of page:

Item Holds section > choose Reserve This Copy

          

 

Please specify:

  • If you would like to pick the item up, choose JIBC Library
  • If you would like the item mailed to you, choose Canada Post

If the item is currently checked out, your name will be placed in the queue.

  • Once the item is available, it will either be mailed to you, or you will be advised that it is ready for pick up.
