If you cannot find your textbook in "Search Me" contact the library at 604.528.5599, email us at library@jibc.ca, or come visit us in-person. We may be able to help you locate your textbook in one of the Library's databases.
If we cannot find your textbook, you will need to purchase a copy from the bookstore or through one of the third party services listed on this page under "Textbook Rental & Purchase".
No, textbooks cannot be borrowed through interlibrary loan (ILL). For more information on ILL check out our guide here.
Check with your instructor about the version or edition of the textbook you are allowed to use.
Contact your program area or your instructor for a list of required textbooks for your course.
You may have additional required course readings to complete for your course. Use the "Course Reserves" or "Course Readings" link in your Blackboard course page to find a complete list of readings. For more information about accessing course readings in Blackboard check out the Ares Course Reserves guide here.
Limitations from the publisher, licensing restrictions, changes to the textbooks used within a program area, or frequent re-publishing of a textbook can make it difficult (or impossible) for the JIBC Library to obtain a copy of a textbook and make it available to students.
Because textbooks are very popular, we often put a copy on the "Reserves" shelf so that students can use the textbook but not check it out of the Library. This allows many more students to use the book than if it were available in the general collection.
We are not able to mail "Reserves" items to distance or online students.
If you can't find the textbook from the JIBC Bookstore, try the list of book rental and used book purchase sites below.
This list is for your information only. The JIBC Library does not endorse or recommend any specific provider.
